How would you describe your show to someone discovering it for the first time at the Fringe?
We had a review for the show that called it ‘brilliant, bonkers and totally fringe’ and while I can’t speak to the first part, it certainly is a very ‘fringey’ show . A sci-fi adventure full of crazy props, songs and sketch comedy wackiness that tells the true story of a fake film.
What moment, idea or frustration first sparked this show into existence?
Moon Team IIIV is my second show and the ever present idea of sequels never living up to the hype of the beloved originals seemed like an apt theme, playing on the Star Wars prequels seemed like the perfect medium!
How has the show evolved from its earliest idea to what audiences will see now?
It certainly has! In fact when we did a work-in-progress run of it in 2024, we were writing and changing it as we went along so no two audiences in that year would have seen the same show, which was kind of a hellish time for us but the show is better for it now!
What makes Edinburgh Fringe the right place for this show right now?
As mentioned above Moon Team IIIV finally finished! We took the finished version to the Buxton Fringe and won Best Comedy Show so get it while it’s hot! Blink and you’ll miss it!
What does bringing this particular show to the Fringe represent for you personally?
I really like doing this show. Every review we’ve had for it mentions something like ‘Will BF is clearly having the time of his life’ and I really am. I’ll be sad to put it to rest, it represents a real joy of performing for me.
What has been the most unexpectedly challenging part of getting this show to Edinburgh?
Genuinely: physically and literally getting it up to Edinburgh. We have so many fragile, yet incredibly heavy props. We have 4 hugely inconvenient suitcases (and one incredibly fragile bag) to carefully cart everywhere we put it on.
If audiences leave the venue holding onto one thing, what do you hope it is?
There’s so much packed into the show that I’d be happiest if every single person in the audience left remembering a different scene, joke, prop or song
How do you think performing this show during a Fringe run will shape it?
Now that the show is ‘finished’ I hope the ‘shaping’ part of its life is over, though something often goes wrong (in a funny way) during the show due to the complex tech and props, so I hope for new things to go wrong, with new, funny consequences for the show and the audience.
Who do you hope this show finds at the Fringe?
I set out to make a show that, if I had seen it years ago, would have inspired me to start building a show of my own. I really want it to be seen by people who’ll be like “Wow, I want to do something like that!”
Finally, if this show came with a warning label, what would it say?
NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH A PUPPET ALLERGY!
Moon Team IIIV runs at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 5th – 30th August 2026 (Except 18th).
