Jeromaia Detto

Next in our series of chatting to creatives and casts of Edinburgh Fringe 2026, we catch up with Jeromaia Detto who tells us all about their show Giuseppe’s Love Quest. ”Have you ever been in love? From the loins of multi award-winning goofball, Jeromaia Detto (Australia), the disarmingly charming Giuseppe Alfresco is desperate to finally find connection and fall in love.”

How would you describe your show to someone discovering it for the first time at the Fringe?

An hour of wholesome silliness where audiences can connect in ways they didn’t expect.

What moment, idea or frustration first sparked this show into existence?

Having never been in love, and wondering how to find and understand what it is.

How has the show evolved from its earliest idea to what audiences will see now?

Finding more narrative and more of a through line has been so wonderful to discover as the show grows and evolves.

What makes Edinburgh Fringe the right place for this show right now?

The show had a wonderful Aussie tour, but Edinburgh Fringe allows both shows and performers to grow in such unique and exciting ways. It’s the perfect time to uncover a new side to the show, and level up your skills.

What does bringing this particular show to the Fringe represent for you personally?

It’s always such a mammoth task to bring a show to Fringe, especially as an independent artist from Australia. This year I get to have incredible support from my partner and get to experience the festival together.

What has been the most unexpectedly challenging part of getting this show to Edinburgh?

The administrative elements are always a hurdle. Being on top of it all is quite challenging and it’s easy to feel like your falling behind, seeing all the publicity and press other shows are getting.

If audiences leave the venue holding onto one thing, what do you hope it is?

Sharing something vulnerable about how they love, and what it looks like for them.

How do you think performing this show during a Fringe run will shape it?

Doing anything 24 times will allow you to understand it in new and different ways. Edinburgh is a great space to explore and discover, to be more audacious and to find your audience.

Who do you hope this show finds at the Fringe?

I hope it opens up new audiences to clowning and physical comedy. Im a big believer in reframing the idea of audience participation into something that is fun, exciting and positive.

Finally, if this show came with a warning label, what would it say?

Warning: This show will make you discover something new about love. Are you ready?
